Description

This has been done for a while, I just kept forgetting to post it. As with several other comics that are close to being ready to post!
Just background:

so... yeah. oh, by the way, I am NEVER going to try drawing the flags in this much detail again. well, the seals anyway, hate them. My sister and I are working up simplified flags that I hope will work.

Details: (sorry if I miss anything)
There's a toll to use the bathroom because Pennsylvania loves their tolls.
Poor D.C. is feeling awkward. He tries to be so politically polite to the point of feeling uncomfortable with anything religious.

I'm thinking cousin Cumberland is cousin to PA, MD and VA (who are all siblings by their mom, Native America) and some sort of Aunt/Uncle to KY (who is VA's son). I know there's Cumberland county PA, possibly a Cumberland town or two, the Cumberland Gap is a famous pass that Daniel Boone explored, but it's also one of the only cities of significance in West Maryland, the county seat of Allegany County and still clinging to their title of "Queen City" of Maryland.

Western Maryland "cities" of significance:
Garrett County: (no official cities)
-Oakland: 1,925 (Resort town, so I would say the population fluxuates)
Allegany County:
-Cumberland: metropolitan area pop: 103,299, city limits pop: 20,859
-Frostburg: 7,873 (probably varies by time of year since it's a college town)
Washington County:
-Hagerstown: 39,662, metro: 269,140 (a metropolitan area that is actually increasing in population...)
-Hancock: 1,725 ("town" but of historic and geographic significance, the skinniest part of Maryland! Spit north and you hit PA, spit south and you hit WV).
And I've never considered Fredrick part of western Maryland. Yeah, it's got more hills than the flatter parts of the state, but it's got more corporations and population it fits in much better with central Maryland. Of course, I consider anything closer to DC than Fredrick part of the DC area, which annoys my Marylander former roommate to no end, hehehe.

By the way, I imagine that the reason both brother and sister are still living together is that they are both single and still haven't found that perfect someone after, what, three hundred years? Gives me room for romantic development later I think.

The interior is based on Independence Hall, I wanted a very colonial style. The idea of what I think the outside of the house looks like is on the back wall. The covered bridge is a must.

When deciding what foods to represent which cities/countries, I went with what I considered the most stereotypical for that country.
The cities names after foreign countries or famous cities in other countries, I mostly represent them with food, tho several I included small pictures for. The only foreign country who I made up a character instead of using Humon's was Egypt, cuz to me he'd totally look like a pharaoh, lol!
Cities named after other states (or major cities in those states) are represented by their states.
Several of the state characters aren't set in stone, by the way. Delaware, New Jersey, even Maryland might change, I dunno.

The cities or counties and how they are referenced in the picture:
Bethlehem: Nativity set
Nazareth: Nativity set, DC: ponders it.
Bird-in-Hand: Hand with Bird figurine
Chinchilla: Chinchilla figurine
Alexandria: Egyptian figurines
Luxor: Egyptian figurines
Egypt: Egyptian figurines, Egypt picture (frame with several small pictures)
King of Prussia: Crown
Moscow: Stroganoff, Russia picture (group picture), Ohio comments on all the food
Saint Petersburg: Borscht, Russia Picture
Norwegian: Fish dish, Norway picture (group picture)
Rome: Fettuccine Alfredo, Italy picture (frame with several small pictures)

Scotland: Haggis, Scotland picture (group picture)
Warsaw: Kielbasa, Poland picture (frame with several small pictures)
Lebanon: Hummus and Pita (ok, the Pita look more like tortilla chips, so sue me)
Dublin: Corned Beef, Ireland picture (group picture)
Damascus: Baklava
Liverpool: Fish and Chips, England picture (group picture)
Moon: Space painting, back wall
Mars: Space painting, back wall
California: Portrait of California (with laptop on beach)
Indiana: Portrait of Indiana (in corn field)
Jersey Shore: Portrait of New Jersey (on street)
Milwaukee: Portrait of Wisconsin (with cheese hat)
Nebraska: Portrait of Nebraska (in front of chimney rock)
Newfoundland: Portrait of Canada (holding beaver, what, Canada's adorable!)
Oklahoma: Portrait of Oklahoma (near city)
Oregon: Portrait of Oregon (water skiing)
Washington: Portrait of Washington (state), conversation with Bro PA
Wyoming: picture: Scene like license plate (cowboy silhouette)
Cumberland: Convo between MD and PA
Punxsutawney: Creepy groundhog statue, if you haven't seen "Groundhog's Day" you should!
The America portrait is just there because he's kinda my pan-america guy

The guests are all Pennsylvania's neighbors, with the exception that Virginia and DC don't actually share a border with PA... but close enough! :P I consider them main characters in my comic so I wanted to include them.

Furniture: Because Amish furniture is considered very fine and PA is considered to have a lot of Amish.
The Pennsylvanias are big Ben Franklin fans, including having an Armonica in the house as well as a Franklin stove.
Part of their house is being remolded because PA loves construction.

The stereotype is that Americans hate Canadians, tho most folks I know don't have a problem with them, in fact most of us geeks love Canada because all the best TV shows are filmed there! The stereotype is that New Jersians are jerks... tho the ones I met at school I never had a problem with.

Scandinavia and the World Concept and Characters belong to :iconhumon:

I love the pictures on the wall, and the toll thing, and the thing about constant remodelling. :XD:
